Where should a porta potty stand in a flood-prone area?
Place a porta potty on the highest firm ground on the lot, away from ditches, swales and shoreline, and on gravel or pavement when possible. In southern Dorchester, Somerset and other low areas, avoid spots that held water after the last heavy rain.
Send a photo of the spot after a rain if you are unsure; we suggest a better one.
How do you keep a porta potty from tipping in wind?
An empty porta potty weighs about 160 lb and can tip in strong gusts. On open shoreline, piers and beach lots, units are staked or strapped to a fixed point, placed in the lee of a building, and turned so the door faces away from the prevailing wind.
What should you do when a storm or flood warning is posted?
Call (667) 260-6006 as soon as a tropical storm, high wind or coastal flood warning is posted. We strap units down, move them to higher ground, or pick them up before the storm and bring them back after. Tipped units are cleaned up and replaced.
Units tipped by weather are handled under the rental terms.
